Vitamin
D
While Vitamin D is
widely known to be important in calcium
status and the maintenance of bone health,
it is also a potent therapeutic tool that is
currently under-utilised in many other
conditions. It is vital for all immune
cells and neurological tissues, and
conditions that benefit from adequate
Vitamin D levels include many types of
cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes
mellitus, arteriosclerosis and hypertension,
to name a few. Furthermore, the
incidence of Vitamin D deficiency is
believed to be increasing, and the
recommended daily allowance is thought to be
largely inaccurate. This test measures
the best indicator of Vitamin D status,
known as 25(OH) Vitamin D.
Conditions
